SkinPen Microneedling in Cheadle

Doctor-led collagen induction therapy at our Brooklyn Road clinic, SK8 1BS

If you are searching for SkinPen microneedling in Cheadle, our clinic on Brooklyn Road (SK8 1BS) offers the treatment under the care of a GMC-registered doctor. SkinPen is the first microneedling device to gain FDA clearance, and it is the only microneedling system we use. It is well suited to acne scarring, uneven texture, enlarged pores and fine lines, and because it works mechanically rather than with heat or light, it is safe across all skin tones. Every patient starts with a free consultation and leaves with a written treatment plan. We are a short drive from Cheadle Hulme, Gatley and Heald Green, with free consultations available Monday to Saturday.

What SkinPen microneedling can treat

SkinPen creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin, which triggers the body’s own repair process and new collagen and elastin. At our Cheadle clinic we use it for:

Needle depth is adjusted for each area and each concern. For deeper scarring we can combine SkinPen with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or an exosome booster, which we discuss at your consultation.

  2. Preparation. Your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied for 20–30 minutes.
  3. Treatment. The SkinPen is passed over each area at a depth chosen for your concern. Most people describe a light vibration or mild scratching rather than pain. A full face takes around 30 minutes.

SkinPen microneedling FAQs

Is SkinPen microneedling painful? Most people find it very manageable. We apply a topical numbing cream for around half an hour before treatment, so what you feel is a light vibration or mild scratching sensation rather than pain. Deeper settings used for scarring can feel more intense, and we adjust the depth to what you are comfortable with.

What is the downtime? Expect redness and mild swelling similar to light sunburn for 24–48 hours, sometimes with slight flaking on days three to five. Mineral make-up is generally comfortable after a day. Most patients book a Friday or Saturday appointment at our Cheadle clinic and are back to normal by Monday.

How many sessions will I need? For most concerns, three to six sessions about four weeks apart give the best result. Acne scarring typically needs five or six, then occasional maintenance. We confirm the number in your written plan at consultation, and our course of three is priced to make a full course straightforward.

When will I see results? Some patients notice a glow within a week, but genuine improvement in texture and firmness appears from four to six weeks as new collagen forms. Results keep building for up to six months after your final session, which is why we assess outcomes over a course rather than after one session.

Is microneedling safe for darker skin tones? Yes. SkinPen works mechanically rather than with heat or light, so the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation is much lower than with laser or IPL. We still assess each patient individually, and the doctor may suggest a short course of skincare before treatment to reduce the risk further.

What is the difference between SkinPen and a dermaroller or other microneedling pens? SkinPen Precision is a medical device with sterile, single-use cartridges and vertical needle entry at a controlled depth. Rollers and non-medical pens enter the skin at an angle, which causes more tearing and less predictable results. We only use genuine SkinPen cartridges.

Who should not have microneedling? We do not treat active acne breakouts, active cold sores, skin infections or open wounds, and we avoid treating patients with a history of keloid scarring or who are pregnant. Certain medications and recent isotretinoin use also matter. Your consultation with Dr Rafie covers all of this before anything is booked.
